Curator

Curator is an assistant that knows what is in your catalogue. Ask it a question and it answers from your own records. Ask it to change something and it shows you the change first; nothing is written until you approve it.

Curator runs entirely on your device with Apple Intelligence. There is no account to link, no key to paste, and nothing leaves the device.

Opening Curator

• Click the sparkles button that floats at the bottom right of the main content.
• Choose Curator in the sidebar, the More list, or the command palette. On the Mac it opens in its own window.
• Settings ▸ Curator shows whether Apple Intelligence is Ready and has an Open Curator button. If the status is Not available yet, Apple Intelligence needs to be switched on in System Settings and finish downloading, which happens in the background.

Asking

The empty chat offers six starting points: Collection value, Recently added, Top artists, Suggest tags, Find duplicates and Acquisitions last year. Or type your own question in Ask Curator….

Things it can do without asking you:

• Look through the collection for items matching a description, or items that are missing a maker, an image or a document.
• Work out the total value, item and maker counts, and the insured split. Totals are grouped by currency rather than converted.
• Rank your makers by number of items, with values when they share a currency.
• Survey your tags and tell you how many items have none.
• Find maker names that look like duplicates or differ only in spelling or capitalisation.

Each of these appears in the chat as a card you can expand, such as Collection query, Collection statistics or Top 5 artists.

Changes it proposes

Some requests change your data. For these, Curator shows a card describing the change with Approve and Decline. The card then reads Applied or Declined.

• Update artwork: change a title, year, medium, edition, notes or maker on an item.
• New artwork: create an item from an image or a PDF you drop into the chat. Fields read from a document are marked as such; anything inferred is marked inferred. Curator is instructed never to invent a maker, a date or provenance from the look of an image.
• Merge artists: move every item from one maker to another.
• Attach file: attach a dropped image or document to an existing item.

Curator waits for your answer before it continues, and it will not claim a change was made until you have approved it.

Attachments

Use the attach button, or drop an image or PDF into the chat, to give Curator a file to work with. The on-device model reads the file's name and reference rather than looking at the picture itself, so describe what the file is if it matters.

Conversations

New Chat starts fresh. History lists earlier conversations, which are kept on the device. Hover over a reply to Copy it. If a reply fails, Retry appears on it.
