Finding your way around

The Home hub

Home is the first screen after you press Enter. It shows:

• The brand line at the top, with today's date and an iCloud capsule that reads Syncing…, Synced with a time, Up to date, Sync error, or Sync off. Hover or tap it for the detail.
• My Collections Data, four tiles: how many collections you have, how many items, how many items were added this month and this year. On iPhone the last two are hidden.
• My Collections, one card per collection. Click a card to open it. Cards show the type, the item count and a Shared badge when the collection is shared.
• Recently Added, the newest items, hidden by default. Turn it on in Settings ▸ Home Hub.
• A footer with Privacy and Terms links and a lightbulb that toggles light and dark appearance.

Right-click a band to hide it, and reorder bands in Settings ▸ Home Hub. The same pane can add a greeting line, quick action buttons for a new item, a new report and Insights, and switch the collection cards between a grid and a single-row carousel.

Sections

These are the places you can go. The first word is what the sidebar or tab bar calls it.

Section	What it is
Collection	The Library for the active collection: its items, and its makers when the layout is Artist Folders. The row carries the name of the active collection.
Artists	A separate makers list, shown only when Settings ▸ General ▸ Library Layout is Split. The label follows the type: Authors, Vintners, Brands and so on.
Insights	The dashboard and the map.
Reports	The PDF report builder and the Report Library.
Loans	Items out on loan and their due dates.
Sales	Items for sale, reserved and sold.
Imports	Bring a spreadsheet, workbook or folder in.
Curator	The assistant. On the Mac it opens in its own window.
Camera	iPhone and iPad only. Photograph or scan straight into a Draft or an item.
Partnerships	Service adverts for the collecting trade.
Marketplace	Listings for sale. Hidden by default; turn it on in Settings ▸ Sidebar on the Mac or Settings ▸ General on iPhone.
Store	The Collections. NFC tag. Hidden by default; same switches as Marketplace.
Settings	Every preference. ⌘, on the Mac.

Community and Exhibitions appear dimmed with a Soon pill. They are not available yet.

On the Mac

The window has three columns for the catalogue: the sidebar, the item list and the item itself. Reports, Insights, Settings and the other full-width sections use two columns.

• The masthead at the top of the sidebar is the Collections. lockup. Click it to go back to Home.
• The Collection row shows the active collection's name beneath it. The chevron beside it opens the scope menu: every collection, All Collections, then Share, Manage Sharing, New Collection… and Manage Collections…. The same menu sits in the toolbar as the Active Collection picker.
• Reorder and hide. Drag rows to reorder them. Right-click a row to Hide it, or choose Reset Sidebar Order. Settings ▸ Sidebar has the full show-and-hide list and a Show All Sections button.
• Simplified or Advanced. By default Curator, Profile and Settings are ordinary rows. Turn off Settings ▸ Sidebar ▸ Simplified and they move into a four-icon footer: Profile, Commands, Curator and Settings. The Commands wrench mirrors the menu bar's Actions menu.
• Recents. Settings ▸ Sidebar ▸ Show Recents in Sidebar adds a strip of recent collections and recent items.
• Full screen replaces the sidebar with a collection menu and a section menu in the toolbar.
• More than one window. File ▸ New Window (⌥⌘N) opens another window with its own collection scope, selection and search.

On iPhone and iPad

iPhone shows a tab bar. The first four tabs are Collection, Insights, Reports and Camera, and a More tab lists the rest. Hold a section in the More list and drag to reorder; the first four in the list make up the tab bar. iPad shows every section in a sidebar instead.

At the bottom of the Collection tab, the Search or jump to… field opens the command palette.

The command palette

Press ⌘K on the Mac, or with a keyboard attached to an iPad. On iPhone, tap the Search or jump to… field. Type to see:

• Recent, when the field is empty.
• Go to, every section.
• Actions: New item, New Collection, Ask Curator, Show All Collections and Settings.
• Items and Makers that match what you typed.

Use the arrow keys to move, Return to open and Escape to close.

Where the app opens

Settings ▸ General ▸ Launch ▸ On Launch, Open chooses between Home, Last Collection and a Specific Collection. Enter Button Position moves the Enter button on the entry screen.
