Tidy Library

Tidy Library scans the whole library for the loose ends that build up after imports, migrations and quick captures, and clears them with a backup taken first.

Open it from Settings ▸ Data ▸ Tidy Library, or Actions ▸ Tidy Library… on the Mac.

What it finds

A sentence at the top sums up the state of the library. Beneath it, two groups of findings, each with its count and an action.

Items

Finding	What it means	Action
Not in any collection	Items that were imported, migrated or captured but never filed anywhere	Move to… a collection, or Delete
Unfinished drafts	Photos saved from the Camera tab or the menu bar that were never turned into items	Delete
Blank items	No title, no image, no maker	Delete
Likely duplicates	Groups that share a maker and title. Merging keeps the oldest of each and folds the rest into it	Merge All…

Makers, Locations & Collections

Finding	What it means	Action
Makers with no items	Makers nothing in the library points at	Remove
Locations with no items	Rooms, racks and crates nothing is stored in	Remove
Empty collections	Collections with nothing in them. Their names and settings are lost	Remove

Scan Again repeats the scan after you have made changes.

Safety

Every delete and merge takes a local backup snapshot first, so the library can be rewound from Settings ▸ Data ▸ Backups. See Exporting and backups. Large deletes run in batches with a progress row, and each deleted item is recorded in the change history.
